Leslie Greenwell, a Canadian soldier, was part of the ill-fated Dieppe Raid in 1942. After a devastating defeat for the Allies, Greenwell was captured by the Germans and sent to Stalag VIIIB, a prisoner of war camp in Germany. Life in the camp was a constant struggle against hunger, cold, and the brutality of his captors.
